We had the opportunity to photograph a sunset wedding at a private home in Rochester Minnesota of Scott and Renee that were so lucky to have found each other through a dance class they were both taking at the Blue Moon Ballroom in Rochester.

Here are some of the photos captured the day of their wedding....

The flowers, the dress, the make-up, the rings, and the beautiful couple. The perfect wedding. The day was absolutely perfect for the outdoor ceremony at sunset, maybe a little chilly once the sun went down, but it was time for dancing by then.

I had the privelage of photographing two very cute little girls a couple of weeks ago. I first met little Ms. S and her little sister Ms. M about a year ago when we did our first photo session, and I was so excited that I had the opportunity to take their pictures again.

The fun part of taking a families pics a year later is you get to see how much change has happened in just that short of time. New adventures and new things learned! Ms. S and Ms. M are two sweet girls that didn't mind holding hands, and gave each other hugs freely (tightly, as in I can squeeze you tight big sis) but freely :-)

Taking the pics of these two little girls and their family are why I love doing what I do.

It has been awhile since we have posted on our blog, but with some of these pics, we just had to share the fun that came with them.

A wedding day takes a lot of time and planning...usually involving mom, dad, bride, siblings, and of course the soon to be hubby. Once you get to the wedding day it's time to let loose and have some fun, and that's where we come in! We get to document the fun so you can relive it over and over!

I must say the groom, Donny, surprised me. During the engagement shoot he was a little more on the quiet side....very easy going and didn't say too much. I walked away from the engagement shoot thinking he might be shy. Totally changed my mind on the wedding day...Donny definitely knows how to bust a move, multiple moves, and have a good time! Katie is right there by his side having a blast too, they definitely compliment each other, what a wonderful wedding day!

This is the first time Donny and Katie saw each other on their wedding, and I thought it was so sweet how he gave her kiss on her forehead, and then they kept checking each other out.

Katie's dress was very cool, it had pockets!!! Another bonus was that the train was detachable, the details on her dress were absolutely breath taking!

Right after this picture was taken Donny had to change his socks quick, he was wearing black socks and had someone go pick him up some white socks so his socks wouldn't stick out so much.

The wedding party. Thought it was pretty cool that the clouds matched the dresses, if you looked just a little further right you would see the bright blue sky breaking through.

The bees that you see above in the picture are totally real! Okay maybe not, but the girls were having a good time trying to keep the bees away.

Perfect day for a perfect couple.

Time to bust a move!

Upon arrival folks just had to locate their name on the entrance table to find out their table assignment, names and number were provided on the box, and the box had a special note for guests which we thought was a very nice touch. Katie and Donny are passionate about rescuing greyhounds, they have a rescued greyhound named Shadow that is pictured above. The note in the box informed guests that a donation had been made to Minnesota Greyhound Rescue in their honor, go ahead and check out the site here's a link:

Party time! Bus rides were provided by the bride and groom. This was so funny to watch!

There were multiple challenges given by the dj...boys vs. girls. They all had to pretend like they were riding in a bus that was driven by bride (girls) or the groom (boys)!

Another challenge was for each of the groups to build a pyramid!

Pancakes with melting butter on top.

When the dj said now you need to show us pancakes with melting butter on top. I thought, how in the world are they going to do that one?! Then it came together quickly...there was a pile of girls (pancakes) with a bride on top (melting butter). Then the guys all got in a pile (pancakes) and Donny the groom got on top and spun in a circle (melting butter). This was so funny!

As always, we feel so blessed to able to document Donny and Katie's wedding day. With all the time, stress, and more that goes into planning a wedding it is such an honor to be asked to be a part of documenting the day so that they can relive the day for years to come.

Love Story of Aimee + Chris

We were so lucky to have been a part of such an amazing wedding day....we have never been so entertained by a bride the way Aimee whipped out the various facial expressions and comments. Lets just say Aimee is a bride of many expressions. There were so many little moments during the day that let to the big moments and it was so sweet. Love + laughter is definitely guaranteed in their marriage!

Another highlight of the night was when Chris and Aimee's dad played a song together with the band Deep Fried Tweeters. The song was one that Aimee was named after - "Amy",

and they rocked the house down!

It was so much fun to meet Katie + Donnie in Lanesboro and get some beautiful pictures. I must admit I was a little worried that day that there was going to be some thunderstorms rolling through, but we got the pics done before the storm came!

Katie was a bridesmaid in her sisters wedding that we were so lucky to have been a part of documenting 5 years ago. One of the highlights of the story is that is that Katie and Donnie met that night, and now 5 years later they are about to exchange their vows!!!

Pet Photos-Yep, we have a new addition!

We have a new addition to our family and his name is....drum roll please.....Hurley! Yep, Hurley. If any of you watch LOST or have heard of the show LOST one of the characters names from the show is Hurley, and he's one of our favs!

Hurley is a Heinz 57 dog. Cocker Spaniel/Poodle/Springer Spaniel and these are some pics of him at 10 weeks old.

And our kiddos have really enjoyed Hurley. Though they say he has shark teeth since his little puppy teeth are so sharp! Currently we have only lost a pair of shoes to his teeth :-)

Gary (named after Sponge Bob's snail) doesn't really care for Hurley too much, but Hurley LOVES Gary.

And while Hurley was taking a little nap the kids got some more of their energy out, which seems to be an endless supply.

Destination Wedding - Katie + Brian

The wedding was absolutely amazing, breathtaking, and full of love!

We met Katie and Brian at a wedding that we did last August. Pretty neat to think that we were sitting next to this great couple at the wedding reception and would be lucky enough to document their wedding day too! Katie emailed us with a few questions a few days after the wedding we had sat next to each other at, and the ball started rolling from there...we were going to sail off into the sunset with them and their wedding party in the Virgin Islands!!! :-)

I'm not much of a writer so bare with me....

This is the view from our room at the resort. We were so impressed, even though we didn't get an "ocean side" room, we thought this was a great view!

Below is the Katie's wedding dress, it is a beautiful dress and was the perfect dress for Katie. As you can tell it was a little cloudy the morning of the wedding, but turned into beautiful clear skies when it came time for taking the wedding pics.

While in the Virgin Islands flip flops are a must-have, at least in my mind since I live in them during the summer.

Destination Wedding - Virgin Islands Photography

We had a great time photographing a wedding in St. Thomas (Virgin Islands) the first week of April this year, and it was so amazing!!! The ocean was such a perfect blue, and we enjoyed seeing a sting ray while sailing, and snorkeling in the crystal clear water!

Since we have been slacking on getting some new posts up on the blog, thought I would just jot a note that we will be posting some of the shots from the recent destination wedding...soon.

Life

Today I had a chance to sit down and think about the many blessings that life has to offer. Yes, life is also full of bumps and bruises along the way too, but it's how we learn and what makes us better people, as long as we do learn from our life lessons.

Looking back at the younger years of life, around the age of my twin boys now, it was so much fun to not really have a care in the world: the power of the imagination was so strong, make shapes out of the clouds in the sky, catch fireflies during the summer to place them in a glass jar, and to go on long bike rides with friends.

My children inspire me to take time each day to admire all the small things in life that hold beauty.

Such as the dandelion that looked absolutely beautiful with the way the orange sky was glowing and sharing its warmth. Though I often just remove these unwanted "flowers" from the lawn, they do have a certain beauty to them, and they are so much fun to blow on and see how many seeds can fly in the air. Within just a second or two of taking this picture, one of our boys grabbed it and blew on it right away and made a wish.

During the fall of 2009 my husband and I were given the opportunity to photograph a wedding of a wonderful couple.

The groom was so excited to see his bride come down the aisle for the first time. This was such an extraordinary moment. He was continuously moving and keeping himself busy with his nervous energy as he waited for his new bride to make her way down the aisle. Not only was it evident that he was excited to see his bride in her wedding dress for the first time but he was so excited to marry the love of his life.

Love is a wonderful feeling.

The ability of the female body. Wow. I just find it so amazing and wonderful that the female body is able to grow a beautiful baby and even more than one at a time. While pregnant it was just so fascinating to feel, and sometimes see, the movement of the baby. It was one of the most miraculous moments that life has to offer.

The love of a pet is such a blessing too. If you are a dog person, a cat person, or even both, a dog's love is the best. Though we do have cats in our life, their love is a little bit different.

A dog loves you unconditionally. There is no question if they love you or not because your feeling crabby, happy, sad... they don't care... they are there for you.

It was so much fun to photograph the most precious little girls! Little Taimani (the big sister) and Kaimana. Taimani would said chee for cheese and it was the sweetest thing in the world, oh and a trick from her Aunt Holland was to let her play with the cell phone for taking pictures, and it worked pretty good. Here are a few pics from the session.

This was a special table just for the kids that were at the wedding, decorated each of the bags super cute, and on top of that, the kids LOVED them!

Wedding Locations in Minnesota

Having been to a few weddings it has been fun to see the different ideas and the styles that each couple have come up with for their wedding day. I just went through and picked out a few different pictures to share some of the great weddings that we have had a chance to document!

Above is a shot of a church in Dodge Center with the getaway car to the reception parked outside. The church photo was shot with a fisheye lens to get the wide view.

For the reception the couple chose to have it outdoors at a golf course, and it was one of the hottest days in July, but it it was a gorgeous day!

This is an outdoor wedding that we attended at Somerby Golf Club in Byron. Lots of great outdoor locations to shoot pictures. George and Alicia were a blast! Being a Greek wedding there was some breaking of plates at the reception, got a little crazy!

If you are looking for some vintage and romance in a twist, this is the place! We absolutely LOVE the environment that is provided at the Berwood Hill Inn in Lanesboro, MN, as seen with the above and the below picture from outdoor ceremonies at this location.

Metal Bird Media - where did the name come from?

Have you ever wondered where we ever got the name Metal Bird Media? Well here you go...Sean is a certified flight instructor and has a passion for vintage airplanes. Yes, we know the name is a bit odd but we wanted something different and unique.

When Sean and I met my freshman year of college and his junior year, he was majoring in aviation physics with a minor in mass communications, he was also providing flight instruction at the local airport in Winona. Sean already had the name Metal Bird Media in his mind before graduating, and once he graduated the logo was designed and the business was started in 2002.

A little secret about our logo...if you look at the wing of the airplane you will see NCH713 and this represents our boys and their birthday...Cooper Hudson July 13, and the N is because all US registered aircrafts begin with N.

So that is the story of how we got our business name and logo.

Jesse and Sam got married December 12th and it was such a beautiful wedding, a little chilly outside, but still made for some great pictures. We arrived at the hair salon just before Sam so we had a chance to meet the bridesmaids, as they were there before the bride too :-)

Here is a picture of Sam and some of the girls as they wait to get their hair done too.

Jesse is a police officer and made sure he brought the handcuffs along. . . .just in case. . . . .

We had a blast at the wedding and wish the Grabau's the best. We look forward to taking more of their family pictures in the future!

Wedding Videography - Kasson, MN

Well we have completed another wedding video and it sure is nice when we can get a video wrapped up and in the mail to the couple before Christmas. The highlight video for the couple is one of my all time favorites, and so I may have to share the highlight video in the future, the song is "Come What May" sung by Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack.

In addition, we are almost done with our new marketing materials and package options, pretty excited that we are getting some of our projects done too, and ready for the upcoming bridal shows. The colors of the wedding were brown with yellow accents, and so we thought the DVD menus would look great in sepia tone, and that the cover of their DVD would look great in sepia too.

The DVD cover has a few of the shots that we took with our still camera so that we could use them for the DVD cover and for the chapter markers of the DVD, take a look...

Each DVD cover that we do create is unique to the couple. The colors, and the look are tailored to what the program and wedding invitations looked like. We want each DVD that we put together to represent the couple.

And just to share a fun picture from the day was when they took off in their car to head to the reception...

Taking pictures of kiddos is always fun. The many different expressions that can be captured is endless! Collin made it so much fun to take his pictures, he had his 3 sisters making faces and doing pretty much anything and everything to get him to smile, it was pretty entertaining.

He even had some moves down with the football, especially making sure it tasted good :-)

And this picture is one of my favorites because it shows exactly how he was feeling about his Mickey Mouse costume!

During the summer we had the chance to take some engagement pictures of a very fun couple. Though Sam was a little more excited to do pictures than Jason, he did a great job! We went out to a few different locations including a beautiful park in Mantorville and then took off to get some shots in the downtown area. Here are a few shots from their engagement session (which are included in our wedding packages :-)) We are very excited to take pictures of their wedding day!

Sean is about to complete yet another wedding video from the season, and get on to editing the next video. It is so much fun to see the videos come into their final stages and add the finishing touch to each of them. A "movie trailer" is available on our Facebook page.

We just finished a huge job of transferring two containers full of VHS tapes to DVD. It's amazing how the old home videos just don't look as clear and crisp as what is out there now. Now I am a little partial to Harlow since she is my niece....but if you check out her smile you will see why! We recently did their family pictures and she was as happy as could be, only had to take 1 break (she got hungry). We put together a couple of Christmas card samples for them to select from and 2 of them are below. The top card has a little owl on it since Courtney loves owls!

It is so hard to believe that Matt and Courtney have been married for two years now, I will have to share some of their wedding pictures later on, they had such a beautiful wedding and now such a beautiful family!

I must say it was a lot of fun taking pictures of the Bollum family. They all have amazing blonde hair, even Butch (the family pet), but he liked to wonder around the park. After the shoot was done and the family had a chance to pick out a picture(s) for their 2009 Christmas cards, which it was a lot of fun designing, we came up with two options.

The Holiday season just came up so fast this year! We better get our cards done too.

Well we are finally having a chance to take a look at starting up the blog a little more now that the summer is over, things sure do get busy!
The boys started kindergarten and baby girl is just busy! Sean and I are now trying to get caught up on work stuff and update all of our albums, DVD samples, etc.
Here is a picture I took of our kiddos as I was cleaning up after a shoot, and they wanted their pictures taken too. Usually they are sick of me taking pictures of them. Try to post more frequently as we get closer to placing a link to our blog on our web site.

Had a great time doing a shoot with the Rogers family. Auryon is such a beautiful little girl. Auryon has long blonde hair just like her mom, she is Crescent's "mini me". During the shoot Auryon was encouraged with halloween candy to pose, and the Tootsie Rolls seemed to work!
When it came time to putting on the tutu and the wings, she was jumping up and down showing us how high she can jump, and it was pretty high! Taking pictures of Auryon and her family is always a blast, it's just amazing how fast kiddos grow!
It was pretty nice out this day, being that it had been the first snowfall of the year in October was still on the ground!
